About the event

Fun-filled 3-day Natural Building workshop in beautiful Lake County! We will explore with earthen materials  to create  dwellings with beautiful and vibrant colors on interior and exterior walls.

THE PROJECT: Our Shoe House is a cute little student learning platform. The "toe" of the shoe is what we will be working on, and will function as an outdoor "glamping"  (fancy camping) spot for visitors to the farm.  We will be putting our finishing touches on the "Shoe House" and providing a "crash-course" in all elements of putting a small structure together from harvestable materials.

Our aim is to impart knowledge about utilizing materials from Mother Nature, and from the waste stream, and to promote building with natural, toxin-free materials to create a warm, cozy, BEAUTIFUL and functional shelters.

You will all have the opportunity for artistic impression while we learn how to mix and apply COB, how to make and apply plasters, and how to mix paints with lime and earth-based natural materials.  We will explore the many options available for natural pigments, and practice making  colorful paints and art!  We will also be installing semi-precious stones and other things from nature directly into the plaster, permanently fixing designs to exterior and interior walls.  You will learn how to sculpt as well!

This event has a group. You’re welcome to join the group once you register for the event.
